The healthcare industry has historically used data in many ways, but data science changed the way Airos operate, promoting them to being one of the leaders in their field.

Airos have used data analysis of the electronic health records of over nine million people for many years in their reseach projects. However, this has often been used purely as a means to obtain samples. Having access to, and the ability to use and interpret, the wealth of information already available in this data has helped them improve care and reduce costs, improve recommendations for care, support adherence to prescriptions, and more. Recently, Airos used these data analysis tools to study incidences of blood clots within a group of women taking oral contraceptives. The analysis revealed that one formula contained a drug that increased the threat of blood clots by 77% — understanding these types of patterns can help many people avoid visits to the doctor or emergency room.
